I have a BA in Social Studies Ed I want to become a psychologist. Should I go into a doctoral program or master?

Since appointment two years for a master's degree, then 2 years to go for a PhD or a four-year doctorate? And there really good online colleges? Like, not an online university, but a good school with an online program for Psych. My husband is military, it would be nice to do homework anywhere we are. Any advice is appreciated.

I can speak from my own experience. I have a BA in Psych and am looking to go to graduate for Psych School. and there are two programs in school im watching one is a EdS, and the other thesis. The DHS is just a control that education school instead of school psych. I asked an adviser to choose because they were close to length of time, and she told me frankly that if my goal was not to make a career as a reasearch so I'd just as good for the EdS. For example, she obtained a doctorate and said that the only time in her life she saw as an advantage if it is when she applied for a job in a school that has been specifically to work with children with autism in a program for autistic children, she obtained the position of Director of the b / c she had a doctorate, but as far as school psychologists regular jobs, she said there wasn't much diff, and someone with a PhD. only paid like $ 1000 more per year than EDS or MA reg. That's what I got out of it, especially in psych, if you opt for a PhD you will be trying to push in make a career in research or teaching, the whole "publish or perish" thing. I know that some colleges offer online courses for PsyD program which is applied as a PhD. My friend is trying to enter and Industrial Psych PsyD program at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and has an online option. Good Luck.
