Phd In Nursing
Is a PhD in Nursing? after u get ur AS, BS, MS in nursing is there anything after that?
what the process of obtaining a doctorate in nursing?
Bedside nurses do not need PhDs. But if a nurse wants to go into teaching or research they need a PhD (not all nurse educators earn a doctorate) .. There are also degrees of clinical nurses practitioner who is a PND (not a PhD) – doctor of nursing practice – the practice is a degree intermediate level, not a true research / academic oriented doctorate. A nurse may also obtain a doctorate in something else, like anyone else, such as the Public Health or epidemiology etc. But you are right. The typical average nurse does not need to spend time or $ to get a doctorate. They would not learn more with this nurse, like most educational skills, statistical skills, public health, preventive medicine, etc.

Nursing Knowledge by Risjord, Mark Edition , 5 $21.99 Nurses who conduct research have a longstanding interest in questions of nursing knowledge. Nursing Knowledge is a clear and well-informed exposition of the philosophical background to nursing theory and research.   Nursing Knowledge answers such fundamental questions as: How is nursing theory related to nursing practice?  What are the core elements of nursing knowledge? What makes nursing research distinctive as nursing research?  It examines the history of the philosophical debates within nursing, critiques the arguments, explains the implications and sets out to rethink the philosophical foundation of nursing science.Nursing Knowledge begins with philosophical problems that arise within nursing science.  It then considers various solutions with the help of philosophical ideas arguingargues that nurses ought to adopt certain philosophical positions because they are the best solutions to the problems that nurses encounter. The book argues claims that the nursing standpoint has the potential to disclose a more complete understanding of human health than the common disease-and-dysfunction views. Because of the relationship to practice, nursing science may freely draw theory from other disciplines and nursing practice unifies nursing research. By redefining theory and philosophy,With a new philosophical perspective on nursing science, the so-called relevance gap between nursing theory and practice can be closed. The final chapter of the book ‘redraws the map’, to create a new picture of nursing science based on the following principles:Problems of practice should guide nursing researchPractice and theory are dynamically relatedTheory research must provide the knowledge base necessary for nurse interventions, training, patient education, etc.Nursing research should develop midrange theories and its results are nursing theory is strengthened when it uses theories confirmed by is integrated with other disciplinesKey featuresClear and accessibly writtenAccurate and philosophically well-informed,Discusses philosophical problems in contexts familiar to nurses Systematically examines the philosophical issues involved in nursing researchExamines epistemology (how we know what we know), theory development, and the philosophical foundations of scientific methodology. Develops a new model of nursing knowledgeDr. Mark Risjord is Associate Professor in Philosophy at Emory University, and has a faculty appointment in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing. His main research areas have been in the philosophy of social science and the philosophy of medicine.  He was invited to has been teaching philosophy of science and theory development in the new PhD program in the Nell Hodgson School of Nursing at Emory University insince 1999.  He has been awarded two competitive teaching prizes: Emory Williams Distinguished Teaching Award (2004) and the Excellence in Teaching Award (1997).  He is presently ser |

Nursing Older Adults (Paperback) $104 "Never was a book like this more urgently needed. Its combination of authority and experience makes it especially valuable. Its wisdom is based on the knowledge and understanding of how growing frail really afflicts older people. We who have known independence and freedom need to have our lives respected. This book makes a good case for encouraging older people to enjoy as much autonomy as possible and to collaborate with their carers in keeping well. Those who nurse older people will find much sound help within these pages."Broadcaster and writer Dame Joan Bakewell"I am delighted to commend this book to you. Putting older people at the centre of their care and support is central in all good nursing care. However, this publication clearly demonstrates the changes to nursing practice that are needed to make this a reality for individual older people. At a time when the number of older people in our society is growing and, when their care is often unfavourable under the spotlight, this publication will provide an invaluable resource for nurses."Dame Christine Beasley, DBE, Chief Nursing Officer for England"Nurses have always known the importance of including the consumer`s voice into practice; however, this text takes this view to additional heights and incorporates the voice of the older person in true partnership as a book editor. This text makes an extraordinary contribution to scholarship and practice and is sure to be on most undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students ?must have? list of texts." Wendy Moyle, PhD, RNDirector, Research Centre for Community Practice Innovation, Griffith University, Australia"A great book: giving a comprehensive insight in the fundamentals of working with older people and key issues in nursing older people… The voice of older people is vividly written in many examples and scenarios given. I recommend this book to nurses, care staff, all who are in the education and qualification |
